As if our lives are not complicated enough, COAs have reported an increase in cognitive decline as a result of social isolation. This is not a surprise. According to the Centers for Disease Control, social isolation was associated with about a 50% percent increased risk of dementia. This has made the already difficult challenge of caregiving even more stressful. The good news is that through Dementia Friendly MA and our partnering organizations ( Alzheimer’s Association of MA/NH, Jewish Friends and Children’s Services, Executive Office of Elders Affairs, and the MA Healthy Aging Collaborative) – we can offer support, resources, and on-line activities to support you and those living with and caring for people living with dementia.
